February Collage Photo Festival - Day 16

After the ceremony we were taken into the formal grounds of the wedding venue for the official photographs. It does not look particularly sunny, but it was and it was around 5pm by now.

I had a lovely bouquet made of tradition flowers which were kept in our room until they had seen better days. Whilst we were at the ceremony, the staff had been busy and had decorated our bed with petals that spelt out "Happy Honeymoon", sadly we only just realised what it said as hubby hit the air conditioning unit and the central fan sent the petals everywhere!

We were at Turtle Bay, which is one of three bays at Watamu on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya within the confines of the Watamu Marine National Park

From looking at the webpage of Turtle Bay it has matured. The rooms look just as I remember them and I think that weddings there are more popular that they were in the early 1990s. I had planned to go back to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary, but think we have a visit on the cards to Australia!

  1. Julie, I don't comment a whole lot, but I couldn't resist telling you how much I enjoyed this photo. Everything about it is lovely, and the part about the a/c and petals, priceless. I hope your dream of getting to Australia pans out.

    1. Barbara, Thanks for stopping by and commenting today. It was funny. Stuart always maintains he had to have the air con on quickly as carrying me over the threshold to our room was too much! Cheeky! As punishment I made him carry me again when we got home!

  2. I was wondering if you would show a photo of the two of you. I'm so glad you did. And the dress is beautiful. Too bad about the petals but at least you realized it for a second.

  4. I've thoroughly enjoyed your wedding stories Julie. I'm glad you got to keep a petal, but what a shame that you didn't get a snap of the bed with the whole display. On the other hand, you did get carried over the threshold....Pete never tried that ;-)

    1. Thank you Pauline, I enjoyed sharing. I asked Stuart whilst I was writing if he would carry me over the threshold on our 20th anniversary, the response absolutely not! What is he suggesting? Lol
