There's certainly no shame in a new life being still a small life. It's great that you have found the will to your ancestor. I hope you can find his farm.

It's so interesting to discover things about the ancestors we knew nothing about before, catching a glimpse into the life they would have led. You can see a little of how Josiah lived, to get to that stage at the end would have been exciting for him and hard work, too, no doubt.
